nato nel 1978, diplomato all'Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma con specializzazione in scenografia, vive e lavora a Milano.
Con l'aggettivo micromusica (termine coniato da Carl Alias Gino Esposto responsabile project management di micromusic. net) s'intende l'attitudine a comporre e suonare avvalendosi di strumenti musicali non professionali, nella maggior parte dei casi progettati, a fini commerciali, per l'uso ludico e d'intrattenimento come: console di gioco (Gameboy, Atari, Nintendo Nes); tastiere giocattolo (Casio, Bontempi, Amstrad, Gbc, Letron, Yamaha); giocattoli sonori (Mattel, Waddingtons, Dubreq, Texas Instruments, Fisher Price); vecchi home computer (Commodore, Spectrum, Atari); vecchie periferiche come stampanti, hard drive. Con la micromusica si applica una ricontestualizzazione degli strumenti di uso quotidiano. Di pari passo si sviluppa il filone del Circuit Bending in cui tali apparecchiature vengono modificate sul piano fisico per poter generare suonorita' inedite. All'estremo di questa tendenza gli strumenti vendono addirittura autocostruiti. La micromusica non rappresenta un genere musicale definito quanto piuttosto un raggruppamento di stili eterogenei che vanno dalle composizioni low-fi dell'immaginario infantile (xylofoni giocattolo, organetti, tastierine didattiche, eccetera) fino alle sonorita' elettroniche che riprendono le atmosfere evocate nelle sale giochi degli anni Ottanta. Questa ultima tendenza in particolare prende il nome di 8bit, inquanto realizzata prevalentemente con strumenti elettronici a 8bit. Se imprecisata appare la genesi della tendenza low-fi, piu' facile risulta la datazione del movimento 8bit nel nord Europa (sopratutto in Germania e in Svezia) tra il 1998 e il 2000, grazie all'impulso dato al genere dalla creazione delle cartucce musicali per Gameboy Little Sound Dj di Johan Kotlinski e Nanoloop di Oliver Wittchow.

The Dyna Ranger is their take on a classic overdrive effect used by Brian May, Tony Iommi and Eric Clapton, to name a few. This handmade pedal utilizes the CV7003 Germanium transistor, the military spec equivalent of the coveted OC44 which drove the original treble booster. In the same tradition as their amplifiers, Divided by 13 have expanded on the functionality via a 5 position voice switch that progressively adds low end girth and gain, enabling you to go from classic vocal like leads to dark and evil fuzz. Rusko's "Everyday" is a huge hands-in-the-air banger to start the summer, and we've got an amazing group of remixes to go alongside it. Netsky pulls off the same trick as Sub Focus did with "Hold On," turning Rusko's pretty production on "Everyday" into an all out smasher. Huge huge tune, but don't sleep on Original Sin's drum n bass remix and the funky garage leaning remix from DJ Q - this is the best remix pack we've had in a long time. The b-side "Lick The Lizard" is a collaboration between Rusko and fellow dubstep pioneer Reso, and it's the perfect companion track to "Everyday," busting out the nasty basslines and pure dubstep sound that Rusko's known for. Quite the return to form.

A State of Trance 500 -- Miami was part of the 13th edition of the annual Ultra Music Festival in Florida, USA.
In downtown Miami's Bicentennial Park, Armin van Buuren hosted his own A State of Trance 500 stage on March 27th 2011, featuring performances by Alex M.O.R.P.H, ATB, Cosmic Gate, Ferry Corsten, Gareth Emery, Marcus Schossow, Sander van Doorn and of course Armin himself. A complete radio studio had been set up backstage for a massive 12 hour broadcast, as part of the celebration of the 500th episode of the A State of Trance radioshow.

LCD Soundsystem will play their last-ever show on April 2 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The band promises that the concert will last nearly three hours, with lots of treats and special guests promised. (Influential NYC punk-funkers Liquid Liquid open.) Tickets for the show sold out so quickly that the band had to add a run of shows at Terminal 5 beforehand to foil scalpers.
But if you can't make it to the Garden, don't despair: You'll be able to watch the band's farewell as a webcast, right here on Pitchfork. We're the only place hosting the webcast, the only spot to watch the party if you're not going. Tune in live on April 2 to say goodbye. This will be a one-time-only broadcast. It will not be replayed.

Reaktor Tutorial - Additive Synthesis

http://www.pointblankonline.net/sound-design-course.php Native Instruments have just launched their latest Reaktor Synth called Razor and it is causing quite a stir in the sound design and production communities. So what makes this synth so exciting? Well it is down to a process called additive synthesis.
Put in the plainest terms possible, additive synthesis is the summation of simple tones to create more complex ones.
The sound is constructed from partials (or frequency components) firing in parallel, changing amplitude and even frequency over time. Additive synthesis is a very powerful sound design tool because the many micro-variations in the frequency and amplitude of individual partials mirrors those that makes natural sounds so rich and lively, and the resulting sound remains clear and precise at all times, even when heavily modulated.
This video demonstrates how to go about building an additive synth in Reaktor plus an overview of some of the other techniques that you will learn on the Point Blank Online Sound Design course ( http://www.pointblankonline.net/sound-design-course.php ). Even this fairly simple example consisting of just 8 partials, you can begin to hear how an additive synth can create an impressively rich and malleable sound. So when you think that Razor's additive engine consists of up to 320 partials you can start to see why everyone is so eager to get their hands on it!
